Women’s Volleyball Announces Class of 2024

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Looking ahead to its 2020 campaign, Harvard women's volleyball head coach Jennifer Weiss has announced its incoming Class of 2024. The four-member class consists of: Olivia Cooper, Corinne Furey, Nicole Prescott and Ariana White. The talented group of first-years hails from California and Delaware, and received Honorable Mention honors in the Top Recruiting Classes of 2020 from Prep Volleyball.

Olivia Cooper | Middle Hitter | 6-0 | Kentfield, Ca. | Marin Catholic
Four-year letterwinner and starter at Marin Catholic … Served as caption senior year … Named the Stockton Classic All-Tournament MVP in 2019 … Received the Marin Catholic St. Sebastian Award in 2019, Coaches Award in 2018 and Most Improved in 2017 … Named the Redwood Volleyball Rookie of the Year in 2016 … Named to the MCAL First Team in 2019 and Second Team in 2018 … Three-time MCAL Champion from 2017-2019 … Open Division State Championship runner up at Marin Catholic in 2019 …  Played for the Absolute Volleyball club … Named the 49ers Cal High Sports NCS Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2019 … Dean's List honoree from 2016-2020 … National Honors Society member … Coached volleyball for three years … Performed over 100 hours of community service.

Coach Weiss on Olivia: "I am so excited to have Olivia join our team and look forward to working with her in the gym. She is an excellent student-athlete and will thrive in our Harvard community. Her natural athleticism and high volleyball IQ are evident when watching her compete at a high level of club volleyball. Olivia is a middle blocker and will be an impact player when she arrives in Cambridge. Her quiet confidence and composure will add to our team on and off the court."

Corinne Furey | Outside Hitter | 6-1 | Wilmington, D.E. | Ursuline Academy
Four-year letterwinner at Ursuline … Served as captain senior year … Earned Third Team All-State honors in 2018-19 … Named to the All-Conference First Team in 2017-18 and 2018-19 … Received AVCA Phenom List honors from 2016-2019 … Named a Prep Volleyball Frosh 59 Highest Honorable Mention in 2016 … Delaware State Champion in 2017-18 and runner-up in 2016-17 … Six-time qualifier for Girls USA Junior National Volleyball Championship … Placed fifth at Nationals in 13-National … Played club volleyball for East Coast Power … Vice President of National Honor Society … AP Scholar … Sophomore and Freshmen Class President … Performed over 100 hours of community service.

Coach Weiss on Corinne: "Corinne has a strong presence in the outside hitting position with a fast arm swing and the ability to move the ball around offensively. She has been a six rotation outside hitter at a top club program and her high school team. She has great vision when competing and always has a positive upbeat attitude. Her work ethic is second to none and I know she has the mentality of "getting better every day". She will be a great teammate and citizen in our Harvard community."

Nicole Prescott | Outside Hitter | 5-11 | San Diego, Calif. | La Jolla Country Day
Four-year letterwinner at La Jolla Country Day … Two-time captain … Named a Prep Volleyball First Team Academic All-American in 2019 … Received All-CIF San Diego Second Team honors in 2019 … Named to the All-League First Team in 2019 and received second team honors in 2016-2018 … Named to the San Diego Union-Tribune Players to Watch in 2019 … Won a bronze medal at Junior Nationals in the 17U Open Division in 2019 … Won a gold medal at the La Jolla Coastal Classic … Five-time SCVA Champions from 2015-2019 … Named to the All-Tournament Team at the La Jolla Coastal Classic in 2019 … Played club volleyball for Coast Travel … Named to the San Diego Union-Tribune All-Academic Team in 2018-19 … Received the CIF's Breitbard Certificate of Athletic Achievement in 2019 … 2020 Cum Laude Society Inductee … Design & Innovation STEM Honor Society invitee in 2019 … Humane Society Volunteer.

Coach Weiss on Nicole: "Nicole comes to Harvard from one of the top club teams in California. I have watched her play for more than a few years and she has developed her game. She played with a higher age group as a sophomore and improved in all areas of her game. She is fast off the ground in the front court, and quick and agile in the backcourt. I am excited to work with Nicole and I know that she will bring a healthy competitive attitude to our team. She is very capable of moving the ball around offensively and has a great ability to hit deep in the court. Academically she is interested in engineering and I know she will take advantage of all the opportunities Harvard has to offer. 

Ariana White | Middle Blocker | 6-2 | Carlsbad, Calif. | Pacific Ridge School
Three-year starter at Pacific Ridge … Two-time captain … Named to the All-League First Team in 2019 … Led Pacific Ridge and the Pacific League in total solo blocks in 2019 … SD Union Tribune All-Academic Team selection in 2018 and 2019 … Received the Coach's Award for team MVP in 2016 and 2018 … Named to the First Team All-Tournament in 2017 … Played for the WAVE Volleyball Club and SoCal Volleyball Club … Placed first at the Sierra National Qualifier with WAVE in 2019 … Played one year of beach volleyball at Pacific Ridge … Four-year Dean's List qualifier … Received the Golden Pyramid Scholars Award in 2019 … Member of the Black Student Union and Girl Scouts of America … Received numerous AP Photography awards … Co-founder of the Working for International Disaster Relief Service Group.

Coach Weiss on Ariana: "Arianna is playing on a top club team in the country and will join us in September with some great playing experience. She has raised her level of play and will be a threat in the middle attacker position. She is strong and explosive offensively and will add to our blocking game. Ari loves to work hard and will bring that passion to the gym every day. When I first met Ari I knew she belonged at Harvard. She is a model student-athlete and will do well in our community."
