FRANKFURT, Germany – Continuing her strong series of play on the international level, sophomore Linda Liedel of the women's soccer team has earned a roster spot for the elite round of qualification for the UEFA U-19 Women's Championship.
Liedel, who has made three career appearances for the Germany U-19 team, will face opponents from Greece, Czech Republic and Austria from April 3-9, with Germany hosting the group of four in the state of Brandenburg. The German team advanced through the qualifying stage with a 3-0 record against Northern Ireland, Kosovo and Estonia, posting a plus-34 goal differential in the process.
Liedel is no stranger to the national team system, having previously been selected to U-19, U-16 and U-15 national teams. The Mainz, Germany native was a CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree in 2018, starting all 12 of her appearances for Harvard along the back line. She has scored two goals in her career, including one game-winner.
Harvard posted a 7-7-1 mark in 2018, including a 4-2-1 mark in Ivy action, while posting six shutouts.
