BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After being named the unanimous Ivy League Rookie of the Year earlier this month, Harvard wrestling first-year Yaraslau Slavikouski collected the 2019-20 EIWA Freshman of the Year announced Monday afternoon.
Compiling a 30-8 record at heavyweight, Slavikouski was 12-1 in dual competitions which included an unblemished, 10-0 mark against EIWA opponents. Ranked ninth in the nation, the Belarus native earned top seed in the 2020 EIWA Championships. Winning his first three bouts to secure a spot in the championship against Lehigh's Jordan Wood, Slavikouski dropped a tough 9-2 decision to finish second.
Slavikouski began the season with a, combined, 7-2 mark, earning second- and third-place honors at the Jonathan Kaloust Bearcat Open and the Keystone Classic, respectively. He secured fourth place at the highly touted Ken Kraft Midlands Tournament at the end of the 2019 calendar year.
A native of Rechista, Belarus, Slavikouski attended Northfield Mount Herman School, winning three England prep championships and two Prep National runner-up awards. Additionally, he is two-time NHSCA champion and a European championship third-place finisher.
