QUEENS, N.Y.- No. 4 Harvard women's fencing wrapped up competition this weekend at the St. John's Invitational in Queens, N.Y.
After dropping the first two matches to Penn State and Columbia, the Crimson put up a close fight with No. 1 Notre Dame. Sophomore saberist Veronica Czyzewski went undefeated despite falling to the Fighting Irish, 15-12.
Fencing one girl short in both saber and foil weapons on the day due to injury, Harvard fell in its final two matches to No. 5 Ohio St. and No. 8 St. John's.
- Sophomore saberist Veronica Czyzewski tabbed the best record on the day going 11-4 with an undefeated round against Notre Dame and St. John's.
- Sophomore Melissa Du fenced for the first time this year in the epee event.
- Senior captain Marta Lasota went a perfect 3-0 against No. 5 Ohio State.
