No. 4 Women’s Fencing Looks to Extend Win Streak at St. John’s Invitational

QUEENS, N.Y.- No. 4 Women's fencing (9-3) travels to Queens, N.Y. as the Crimson looks to extend its win streak past six.

In round one the women will meet No. 6 Penn State in which the Crimson trail in the all-time series 12-14. Following that the Crimson will take to the strip against Ivy rival No. 3 Columbia. Harvard trails in the series, 10-37.

In its third bout of the day, Harvard will meet No. 1 Notre Dame and look to secure its second win all-time against the Fighting Irish.

In the final two rounds of the day the Crimson will meet No. 5 Ohio St. and No. 8 St. John's. The women trail in the series, 3-7, but defeated the Buckeyes last season by a score of 15-12. Harvard and St. John's remained tied in the series, 7-7, and the Crimson could take the lead with a win.

  • Harvard has won six in a row including back to back wins at home against Tufts and Wellesley.
  • The Crimson went 3-2 at the St. John's Invitational in 2019 with wins over Ohio St., St. John's and Ivy rival Columbia.
  • Senior sabreist and co-captain, Marta Lasota, holds the best touch differential on the team at plus 59. First-year sabreist, Maria Theodore follows close behind with a differential of plus 51.
  • In Harvard's last meet at home Lasota, Theodore and junior epeeist Saanchi Kukadia posted undefeated records against Wellesley and Tufts.
