Skiing Closes Regular Season Competition at Williams Carnival

LAKE PLACID, N.Y./WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Harvard skiing team posted its best placement in its final carnival of the season, placing ninth among a 16-team field at the Williams Carnival.

Rachel Hampton paced the women's nordic team with a pair of top-20 finishes in the 10K FS and 5K, while Devlin Shea led the men's side in both races. Kelly Steeves posted the top places on the alpine side, including a top-25 finish in the giant slalom.

Hampton led the way in the women's 10K FS, ticking in at 29.32.6 to take 18th. Annie Harvieux posted her top finish of the season, taking 24th at 29:49.1. Hanna Barnes came shortly after at 30:09.4 for the No. 30 spot.

In the men's 10K FS, Shea clocked in at 26:26.0 to take the 39th spot, while Connor Green crossed right after at 26:26.2. Liam Mulshine took home the No. 44 spot with a time of 26:36.6.

Hampton, Barnes and Harvieux each posted a top-30 finish in the 5K. Hampton clocked a time of 46:32.0 to take the No. 15 spot. Barnes earned a career-best 24th at 47:13.0, while Harvieux checked in three places later at 47:26.3.

Shea posted another strong effort in the men's  5K, taking the No. 37 spot with a time of 41:06.5 Ian Meyer ticked in at 41:49.0 for 43rd and Connor Green followed right after at 41:53.3.

On the alpine side Kelly Steeves ranked 25th with a time of 1:40.76 in the giant slalom, and registered 31st at 2.09.19 in the slalom. Kaitlyn Gibson registered the other finish in the slalom, taking 51st with a time of 2:17.

Harvard will return to the slopes at the EISA Championships Feb. 27-28.
