Softball’s Morgan Melito Receives CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- Harvard softball junior Morgan Melito received First Team CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, CoSIDA announced Thursday afternoon.

The Academic All-District team recognizes the nation's top athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

The junior history and literature concentrator posted a 3.69 GPA during the 2019-20 academic school year. On the field, Melito has a career batting average of .262 and a slugging percentage of .413. She has four career home runs and has totaled 33 RBIs in her three years thus far for the Crimson.

Melito started all 10 games for the Crimson before having its season cut short. In just 10 games she batted .258 with eight hits including two doubles and a home run. The junior went 2-for-3 and a had a season-high three RBIs and three runs scored against N.C. Central on March 1.

The Crimson first baseman now advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. The honorees for this award will be announced from June 8-11.
