COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Harvard men's volleyball libero Chase Howard has been named to the 2020 USA Volleyball Collegiate National Team, the organization announced Tuesday, May 19.
Through an open video tryout, 16 student-athletes were chosen for the team through review of their game film and their VolleyMetric stats. Howard is one of two liberos and two EIVA players to be selected for the roster. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the team will not train and compete together this summer.
During the shortened 2020 season, the senior captain totaled 121 digs and a 2.52 digs per set average. The Virginia Beach, Va. native's stat totals ranked him second in the EIVA and fifth in the NCAA in digs per set and fourth in the EIVA in total digs. Howard also received All-EIVA honors for the first time in his career. The libero leaves the Crimson ranked fourth in program history in career digs, with 501, and first in program history in total digs in a season with 234, achieved during the 2018 season.
