PHILADELPHIA – For the third straight year, a Harvard student-athlete has won the CSA Individual National Championship. This year, it was Marwan Tarek who capped off the tournament with an incredible come-from-behind win over runner-up Aly Abou El-Einen of Penn. Tarek outlasted his opponent in the final set to secure the 3-2 victory.

The sophomore went down 1-0 early, but responded with a 13-11 second-set victory to even the score. El Einen came back with a 12-10 win in the third set to re-take the lead. Tarek heated up down the stretch, running away with 11-6 and 11-5 set wins to clinch the match. This is the first individual title for the Egyptian, who will take the Pool Trophy with him back to Cambridge.

Tarek is the 37th national champion in program history and sixth this decade.

George Crowne swept his way to a win in the Molloy Cup, defeating Dillon Huang of Penn, 3-0. Crowne only dropped two sets in his four matches on the weekend en route to the East bracket title.
