CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - In the second of back-to-back matches, Harvard men's squash shined in an impressive 9-0 victory over the No. 6 Rochester Yellowjackets. The Crimson (7-0, 4-0 Ivy) swept the match to improve its perfect record. Individually, Harvard posted a 27-2 record, with eight of the nine matches being 3-0 wins. The nation's top-ranked team has now won three consecutive matches by a score of 9-0. The win was also the sixth straight over a CSA team ranked in the top 10.
Harvard was led by their experienced players, as three seniors and three juniors powered the Crimson to the victory. Senior captains Timothy Brownell, Sean Hughes and Saadeldin Abouaish all earned 3-0 wins at the second, fourth and fifth pairings, respectively.
The first-year duo of Ayush Menon and Liam Rotzoll continued to collect wins on the season, as they both earned 3-0 wins on the eight and ninth courts. The tandem is now a combined 14-0 in their first collegiate seasons.
- Sophomore Marwan Tarek led the charge at the top of the order, winning 3-0 at the first pairing. Tarek outscored his opponent 33-18 on his way to the win.
- Junior Samuel Scherl put together the most lopsided victory, as he outscored his opponent 33-9 at the third pairing.
- The Crimson has now won three straight matches by a score of 9-0, to bring its collective individual record to 61-2.
Harvard is back in action this Friday, as it will take on the Virginia Cavaliers at 5 p.m. at the Murr Center Squash Courts. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
