No. 2 Men’s Fencing Readies for First Home Meet of the Season against NYU

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- No.2 men's fencing returns home to Cambridge to take on NYU in it's first home meet of the season. This meet is scheduled to take place in the fencing room at the MAC at 12:30 p.m. and be broadcast on ESPN+

The Crimson is coming off a weekend in which they went 2-3 at the St. John's Invitational with wins over No.1 Columbia and No. 2 Notre Dame.

Harvard is 18-34-1 against the Violets all time with a two game win streak stretching back to 2018. Last season the Crimson defeated NYU 23-4 in its only home meet of the season.

What to Know

  • Harvard comes into this meet at 11-3 and ranked No.3 in the nation following the first national rankings release.
  • Senior foilist and co-captain Duncan Rheingans-Yoo holds the best touch differential on the team at plus 107 with a record of 32-7.
  • Junior foilist and co-captain Geoffrey Tourette holds the best record on the team at 33-6 with a plus 101 touch differential.

At the Helm
The Crimson had a busy offseason adding many new faces to Cambridge including Daria Schneider who enters her first season at the helm for Harvard. Schneider comes to Harvard after a three-year stint as head coach at Cornell where she notched 34 victories including a program best 19 in 2016-17 and Ivy Co-Coach of the Year in 2018.

The Crimson will return to Cambridge for the Ivy League Championships from February 8-9. Those bouts are scheduled to take place at the Gordon Indoor Track and be broadcast on ESPN+.
