March 2020 Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

Harvard Athletics and Harvard University are closely monitoring the ongoing Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak. The health, safety, and well-being of our community, on and off campus, is our top priority. We will continue to update the community regularly to keep you informed.

This page will be updated within minutes of any status changes or public confirmations. The safety, travel logistics and overall well-being of students, staff and fans are of the utmost concern. 

For varsity events, fans can consult the individual team schedule pages or the composite schedule page. This page will also be updated immediately as changes are confirmed.  

Update as of 7 p.m. on Monday, March 16 includes:

  • The Ivy League announced that it is canceling the remainder of the winter and spring sporting events due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. 
  • Harvard will not participate in any team or individual NCAA or other postseason competition. 
  • All recreation facilities will be closed beginning Tuesday, March 17. This includes the Malkin Athletic Center, Hemenway Gymnasium, Murr Center (fitness room, squash and tennis courts), Blodgett Pool, QRAC, Weld Boathouse, Sailing Center and Beren Tennis Center.

Please know that we continue to work with University officials frequently to review, update and communicate plans. This is an extremely fluid situation and all guidelines are subject to change as events change.
